RIVERS INSURRECTIONS: ABAYOMI MIGHTY CONDEMNS FABURA’S SUSPENSION, CALLS IT A SHAMEFUL ATTACK ON DEMOCRACY

Abayomi Mighty has described the suspension of Rivers State Governor Fabura as “laughable, insulting to the intelligence of Nigerians, and one-sided.” He did not mince words in attributing this move to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s desperate bid to reclaim Rivers State for his ally, Governor Nyesom Wike, and further plunder the resources of the people.

“This is obviously Gov. Wike’s handwriting,” Abayomi Mighty declared.

He continued: “Tinubu’s pronouncement is nothing but a calculated attempt to weaken opposition and return Rivers to Wike, just as he has turned Lagos State into his personal kitchen.”

This outcry is not just about Rivers State, but the glaring hypocrisy of Tinubu’s administration in handling crises across Nigeria.

Abayomi Mighty exposed the President’s selective justice by pointing out worse insurrections across Northern, Eastern, and other Southern states where unimaginable horrors have occurred, yet no action was taken. He cited multiple instances of terror, including the gruesome killings of women and children in Plateau State (Punch, April 2023), the massacre in Benue where entire communities were razed (Premium Times, July 2023), and the burning alive of innocent villagers in Taraba by bandits (The Guardian, August 2023). Abayomi Mighty lamented that these heinous acts, which could have warranted a state of emergency, were met with silence from the presidency.

Abayomi Mighty berated Tinubu for his blatant bias and selective outrage, questioning why APC-governed states that have witnessed atrocities far worse than Rivers State have been left untouched. He referenced the reign of terror by Bello Turji in Taraba State, where entire villages were sacked by terrorists with no federal intervention (Daily Trust, October 2023). He also highlighted the killings in Southern Kaduna, the abductions in Zamfara, and the bloodbath in Anambra, all of which have continued unabated. Yet, no state of emergency was declared, no governors were suspended, and no drastic federal measures were taken. “This is not about security; this is about politics,” Abayomi Mighty fumed.

It is very pathetic that Tinubu only has erections when it comes to PDP states and affairs. We only see the president and presidency swiftly moving against a PDP governor and affairs while turning a blind eye to the decay in his own party’s strongholds. “Why the double standard? Why is it that only opposition governors are targeted? Tinubu’s government is nothing but a dictatorship wrapped in false democratic pretense,” he thundered. According to him, Tinubu is not a leader for Nigerians, but a man driven by selfish interests, a politician who prioritizes political control over national stability.

Abayomi Mighty did not stop there. He accused Tinubu of fueling public anger with his reckless actions, insisting that the people of Rivers State were not considered in this political game. “He doesn’t care about the people! He is only interested in consolidating power, no matter the consequences. If Tinubu had any regard for Rivers State, he would have addressed their plight, not used them as pawns in his battle for dominance,” Abayomi Mighty asserted. He warned that such actions would only deepen resentment among the masses and push the country toward further instability.

Referencing the recent political oppression under Tinubu’s watch, Abayomi Mighty drew parallels between the unjust suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and now the removal of Fabura. “This is not governance; this is intimidation,” he declared. “Every strong opposition voice is being silenced, and the people are watching.” He noted that Tinubu’s administration was setting dangerous precedents that would not only destroy democracy but also provoke widespread resistance from Nigerians who refuse to be bullied into submission.

In a scathing rebuke, Abayomi Mighty declared that Tinubu’s days in power were numbered. “Nigerians will not hesitate to vote him out! His deceit, double standards, and arrogance will not save him from the wrath of the people in 2027,” he warned. Abayomi Mighty further stated that he was ready to take charge and lead Nigeria on a path of true progress and prosperity, offering himself as a beacon of hope for a country plagued by corruption and impunity.

The battle for 2027 has begun, and Abayomi Mighty has made it clear—he will not sit idly by while Nigeria is dragged into the abyss by those who seek to exploit it for personal gain.
