ABAYOMI MIGHTY CONDEMNS SENSELESS KILLINGS ACROSS NIGERIA, CALLS OUT RETREATING PRESIDENT, BOLA TINUBU

Abayomi Mighty has strongly condemned the escalating violence and senseless killings across Nigeria, particularly the recent atrocities in Plateau State. In early April 2025, over 50 armed assailants attacked the villages of Mandung-Mushu and Kopnanle in Bokkos Local Government Area, killing at least 12 residents, including women and children, and setting homes and places of worship ablaze. Days later, another attack in Pushit, Mangu LGA, claimed 12 more lives. These incidents are part of a disturbing pattern of violence that has plagued the region, with over 1,300 people reported killed in Plateau State between December 2023 and February 2024.

The violence is not confined to Plateau State. In March 2025, suspected Islamist fighters launched coordinated attacks on two Nigerian military bases in Borno State, resulting in the deaths of at least four soldiers. Additionally, a roadside bomb suspected to have been planted by Islamic extremists exploded under a passenger bus along the Damboa-Maiduguri highway in Borno State, killing eight individuals and injuring over a dozen others. These incidents highlight the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP, which continue to destabilize the region.

Abayomi Mighty has called on Nigerian security agencies to intensify their efforts in protecting citizens and restoring peace. He emphasized the need for a more proactive and coordinated approach to counter-insurgency operations, urging the deployment of advanced surveillance technology and increased intelligence gathering to preempt attacks.

The recent deployment of police tactical assets to Plateau State, including drones and specialized units, is a step in the right direction, but more comprehensive measures are needed to address the root causes of the violence.

Furthermore, Abayomi Mighty criticized the presidency for its perceived inaction and called on President Bola Tinubu to return from his retreat in France to address the security crisis. He urged the president to summon security chiefs for an emergency meeting to develop a robust strategy to combat the ongoing violence.

In addition to military and security interventions, Abayomi Mighty highlighted the need for addressing the socio-economic factors contributing to the unrest. He called for increased investment in education, healthcare, and economic development in affected regions to alleviate poverty and reduce the appeal of extremist ideologies. By tackling these underlying issues, the government can create a more stable and prosperous environment for all Nigerians.

Abayomi Mighty concluded by urging all Nigerians to unite against violence and work collectively towards peace and reconciliation. He called on religious and traditional leaders to promote messages of tolerance and coexistence, emphasizing that only through unity and mutual respect can the nation overcome its current challenges and build a more secure future
