
Distinguished Pan-African leader, Abayomi Mighty has extended his heartfelt congratulations to former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo on his 88th birthday.
President Obasanjo is renowned for his pivotal roles in Nigeria’s political landscape. He served as the country’s military head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as a democratically elected president from 1999 to 2007. His tenure is marked by significant contributions to Nigeria’s transition from military to civilian rule, earning him recognition as a pathfinder of political institutions.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Abayomi recalled that it was during Obasanjo’s administration he had the opportunity to meet former United States President, Bill Clinton. This encounter occurred during the African Summit on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Other Related Infectious Diseases held in Abuja in November, 2001. At the summit’s inaugural session, a 16-year-old Abayomi Mighty delivered a powerful presentation, urging African leaders to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic. His speech resonated with attendees, including Presidents Obasanjo and Clinton, emphasizing the need for leadership in addressing public health crises.

Abayomi Mighty praised Obasanjo’s visionary leadership and his dedication to strengthening democratic institutions in Nigeria. He emphasized that Obasanjo’s efforts have laid a solid foundation for future leaders to build upon. He expressed his admiration for Obasanjo’s commitment to national development and his role in promoting good governance across Africa.
