Renowned philanthropist and visionary leader, Abayomi Mighty, recently visited his alma mater, Moslem Comprehensive High School, Imepe, Ijebu Ode, as the school marked its 70th anniversary. The occasion also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the 2005 set— a set he mentored while in school — as he belongs to the 1995-2001 sets.
Addressing students, Abayomi Mighty described the school as the best in Nigeria, emphasizing that the school has produced world-class leaders, including himself. He proudly recounted how his journey at Moslem Comprehensive High School paved the way for him to interact with global figures such as the former U.S. President, Bill Clinton and former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo at the United States of America.
Recounting his humble beginnings, Abayomi Mighty shared a deeply personal narrative of resilience and determination. He recalled how, as a J.S.S. 1 student, he had neither sandals nor textbooks and often had to rely on the generosity of friends to feed. Despite these challenges, he remained focused, never joined other students to disrupt classes but instead dedicated himself to rigorous study and self-improvement. Abayomi Mighty’s diligence paid off, as he soon distinguished himself as one of the school’s brightest students, representing the school in numerous academic competitions and earning several gold and silver prizes.
Abayomi Mighty was particularly moved by the stories of six students whose experiences mirrored his own. In a remarkable display of generosity, he placed them on full scholarships covering their education up to university level. Additionally, he announced sponsorship for students sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, a Multimillion naira estimated commitment of scholarship.
Beyond this, he distributed cash prizes amounting to hundreds of thousands of naira to other students in recognition of their academic excellence and outstanding character.
Encouraging students to remain steadfast in their academic pursuits, Abayomi Mighty advised students to shun cultism and negative influences, stating that success is attainable through hard work, discipline, and perseverance. He urged them to see themselves as ambassadors of the school and to uphold its values, assuring them that nothing is impossible, like he always says, “Impossible is Dead”
Beyond personal support for students, Abayomi Mighty also pledged to contribute to the infrastructural development of the school. Noting the deteriorating state of some facilities, he announced plans to fund the reconstruction of detached roofs, remodeling of classrooms, and upgrading of other essential structures to meet world-class standards.
In a heartfelt tribute, Abayomi Mighty expressed profound appreciation to his teachers who nurtured him during his formative years. He took the time to acknowledge specific educators who played pivotal roles in shaping his academic and moral foundation, emphasizing that their dedication and belief in him were instrumental to his success.
As a staunch advocate for quality education, Abayomi Mighty reassured the school of his continued visits and sustained support. He left the students with words of encouragement and valuable moral lessons as he departed the school amidst applause and admiration.
