
In a remarkable tribute to late Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a heroic procession was held in honour of the late sage in the Ijebu Ode house of Abayomi Mighty, alongside league of renowned activists. The event was a solemn yet inspiring rite of passage, celebrating the life and legacy of the iconic leader of Afenifere.
The attendees who gathered at the residence of Abayomi Mighty, piad their respects to the elder statesman, whose lifelong commitment to democracy, justice, and Yoruba unity left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape.
The procession brought together prominent activists, including Comr. Ujama, Comr. Ikechukwu John (Prof Ik), The Great Iroko, Comr. Tinuke Abayomi, Comr. Fola, Comr. Foyin, Hon. Destiny, and several others who came to honour the memory of the late nationalist.
This procession, which was held at Golden Estate, Ijebu Ode, was enveloped with emotions as participants bore inscriptions and banners adorned with messages of appreciation, reflecting the values and principles Pa Adebanjo stood for. The event was a moment of collective reflection, unity, and reverence for the departed icon.
During the tributes, the late sage was eulogized in glowing terms. Speakers described him as “a model for uprightness” and “a pathfinder of regional development.” Others referred to him as “a pillar of progressive politics,” “a fearless advocate of democracy,” and “a father of modern Yoruba nationalism.” The gathering emphasized his unwavering dedication to good governance, social justice, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage. His role in shaping political consciousness across Nigeria was celebrated with deep admiration.
In his remarks, Abayomi Mighty recounted Pa Ayo Adebanjo’s contributions to Nigeria, particularly in championing democracy and regional development. He described the late sage as “a mentor, one who spoke truth to power without fear or favor.” He acknowledged Adebanjo’s relentless advocacy for restructuring, equity, and national unity, noting that his voice was one of the strongest in the call for fairness and justice in Nigeria’s governance. “Pa Adebanjo was consequential; he spoke in favour of equity, fairness, and transparency. He’ll forever be missed,” he added.
The procession was led by Abayomi Mighty, as they gyrated and eloquently sang solidarity songs; paying their last respects to the revered leader. The atmosphere was charged with emotions as participants expressed their appreciation for Adebanjo’s immense contributions to Yoruba land and Nigeria at large.
