Abayomi Mighty Engages Ogun Teachers, Labour Congress Leaders; Decries Economic Hardship, Advocates Empowerment

Abayomi Mighty who is a leading voice in Nigeria’s emerging political landscape and 2027 presidential aspirant, was warmly received as a guest speaker at an event hosted by the Ogun State chapter of the Labour Congress and teachers’ union at the Federal Government College, Odogbolu.

The gathering which brought together educators and union leaders from across the state, became a powerful platform for discussing the dire state of the Nigerian workforce and the country’s worsening economic conditions.

In a rousing address, Abayomi Mighty did not hold back in criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, which he described as anti-people and disastrous to the survival of the average Nigerian. He lamented that the Nigerian workers, particularly teachers, have become the worst hit under the current administration, enduring rising inflation, delayed salaries, and inhumane working conditions without meaningful government intervention. “It is time we start talking about a living wage, not just minimum wage,” he declared to loud applause.

He further dissected the depth of poverty experienced by Nigerians, asserting that the suffering endured by the masses could be classified in three grim dimensions—poverty of the pocket, poverty of the mind, and poverty of hope.

According to Abayomi Mighty, these layers of hardship have eroded the dignity of labour and crippled the spirit of many patriotic citizens who once believed in the promise of the nation.

In a gesture of hope and empowerment, Abayomi Mighty announced a nationwide empowerment initiative targeted at women-teachers nearing retirement. He revealed that about 4,000 women have already benefited from the program, which seeks to provide financial independence and vocational transition for aging educators. Notably, five teachers nearing retirement at the Federal Government College, Odogbolu, were randomly selected as new beneficiaries of the scheme.

The event took a celebratory turn when Abayomi made a token donation and pledged ₦1 million to support future programs by the teachers and labour bodies. His act of generosity was met with loud cheers and appreciation, underscoring his reputation for backing his words with action, particularly in grassroots engagements.

In a fiery charge to the Labour Congress leaders present, Abayomi Mighty challenged them to move beyond mere agitation. “You cannot continue to agitate to a ruling class that is perpetually deaf and blind to the suffering of the people,” he said. He advocated for a more assertive and radical form of labour engagement to demand meaningful reform and better conditions for Nigerian workers.

Abayomi Mighty seized the opportunity to reiterate his presidential ambition, declaring his readiness to rescue Nigeria from its current state of disrepair. He emphasized that his mission is not driven by personal ambition but by a deep desire to restore dignity to the Nigerian worker, revive the education sector, and rebuild the economy on the foundation of justice and equity.

As the event drew to a close, Abayomi Mighty rejoiced with the teachers and expressed his admiration for their resilience and patriotism. He encouraged them to remain hopeful and resolute, assuring them that better days lie ahead. His presence, message, and gestures left a lasting impression on attendees, further cementing his status as a leading contender in the journey toward Nigeria’s 2027 presidency.
