2027 presidential hopeful and prominent Labour Party figure, Abayomi Mighty, has raised serious concerns over the internal leadership crisis rocking the party, describing it as a major threat to the aspirations of its candidates and the collective dream of its members. Speaking at a Labour Party stakeholders’ event held in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Abayomi Mighty condemned the persistent factional leadership tussle between Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa, attributing the disunity to what he termed Peter Obi’s “divisive leadership approach.”

Abayomi Mighty emphasized that the ongoing power struggle has rendered the sacrifices and efforts of grassroots members fruitless, discouraging many potential candidates and weakening the party’s structure at the local and national levels. According to him, “No party can lead a divided nation when it cannot first unify its own house. The factionalism in the Labour Party is not only dangerous to our collective ambition, but also to the faith of millions of Nigerians who look up to us as the alternative to bad governance.”
Determined to end the crisis, Abayomi Mighty vowed to lead strategic reconciliatory efforts aimed at uniting the warring factions within the party. He revealed that behind-the-scenes talks are already underway with major stakeholders from both sides of the divide. “I am committed to building bridges. I have opened conversations with leaders from all groups, and we will sit at the same table until we forge a common front for victory in 2027,” he affirmed.
In the course of his address, Abayomi Mighty used the opportunity to unveil part of his national development blueprint for Nigeria and the labour movement. Key among his proposals are a minimum wage increase to ₦250,000, the sale of a 50kg bag of rice at ₦15,000, and the establishment of a functional refinery in each of the six geopolitical zones—measures he insists will reduce petrol prices to ₦200 per litre. He also promised a policy document tailored for each state to ensure practical and result-oriented governance across Nigeria.

Abayomi Mighty also highlighted the achievements and ongoing projects of his foundation, particularly in the areas of education and women empowerment. He announced that over 4,500 women teachers across Nigeria have so far benefited from empowerment initiatives, while scholarship programs are being offered to hundreds of undergraduate students in universities, colleges of education, and polytechnics nationwide. “We are already changing lives, even before we take office,” he noted.
Calling on Nigerians to join the Labour Party en masse, Abayomi Mighty described the party as the only political platform that truly represents the aspirations of civil and public servants. Quoting the party’s code of conduct, he stated: “The Labour Party remains the only party that aligns with the values and interests of Nigeria’s working class. It is time for Nigerians to support a platform that respects dignity, service, and social justice.”
In conclusion, Abayomi Mighty reiterated his unwavering commitment to the 2027 presidential race. “I am in this race to win. There is no going back. We will reclaim Nigeria from misrule and restore the dignity of labour. Together, with unity and vision, we shall build a country that works for everyone,” he declared confidently to a round of applause.
