Abayomi Mighty Condemns Benue Killings and Urges Presidential Action

2027 Nigerian presidential aspirant, Abayomi Mighty, has expressed profound grief over the recent wave of senseless killings in Benue State, Nigeria, where not less than 100 people, including women and children, were killed in coordinated attacks.

Abayomi Mighty described these attacks as a tragic assault on the fabric of Nigerian society, emphasizing the devastating impact on communities in the Middle Belt.

Abayomi Mighty extends his condolences to the government, people and affected families, lamenting the loss of innocent lives and the displacement of hundreds more.

Abayomi Mighty strongly condemned the relentless violence, pointing to Amnesty International’s findings that Benue State alone has recorded 6,896 deaths, and still counting, since May 2023, the highest toll among northern states plagued by armed groups and bandits. He criticized the Nigerian government’s failure to curb the escalating insecurity, noting 0that the attacks, often involving the destruction of boreholes, hospitals, and schools, have disrupted livelihoods and exacerbated a humanitarian crisis.

In a bold call to action, Abayomi Mighty urged President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Benue State to address the rampant banditry and restore security. He argued that the government’s inaction, as evidenced by Amnesty International’s critique of ineffective security measures, has left citizens at the mercy of armed groups.

Abayomi Mighty demanded that the president prioritize wiping out banditry and ending the killings, warning that failure to act decisively undermines the government’s legitimacy. He referenced the Benue Concern Youths’ plea to Governor Hyacinth Alia, which expressed frustration over repeated attacks in areas like Gwer West, Guma, Logo, Agatu, and Apa, signaling a collapse of trust in federal protection.

Abayomi Mighty has also advised that the government must deploy robust military and intelligence resources to neutralize the threat and ensure justice for victims. He went ahead to alternatively call for the resignation of President Tinubu should he fail to address this crisis. He asserts that leadership must be accountable to the people’s safety.

Abayomi Mighty maintains that his vision for Nigeria, as he campaigns toward 2027, includes strengthening security infrastructure and fostering dialogue to resolve conflicts.
